Hello Blogosphere! Greetings from The Café Sucre Farine!

Four white and blue ceramic canisters labeled “The Café Sucre Farine” sitting on a kitchen counter in front of a sunny window with fresh plants in the background.

The intricacies of cooking and baking have fascinated me for as long as I can remember, so the birth of this blog is something I've been dreaming about for some time now. My husband says that I read cookbooks like "normal" people read novels, and often refers to me as the crazy "chemist" in the kitchen.

If you and I were to go out to a good restaurant, you would most likely find me analyzing and "deconstructing" the food (in my mind, of course) as I enjoy it. Often, the following day, you'd smell suspiciously similar aromas wafting from my kitchen!

When a new cooking magazine arrives in the mail, I am thrilled and can hardly wait to steal away a few moments to peruse. In fact, I usually have some type of culinary magazine on the bathroom countertop as I dry my hair. Some days my hair might look worse than others if I get more interested in the magazine than in tending to my locks!

Although I really enjoy baking (my friends and co-workers will attest to this as they are so often my "guinea pigs"), I also love preparing and coming up with recipes using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. For me, it's a fun challenge to keep our meals healthy but at the same time delicious. That way, when the baking impulse overtakes me, I don't have to feel quite so terribly guilty. My blog will offer recipes that mirror this philosophy - I hope you enjoy it!
